The benefit to using Shopify POS is that your in-store point of sale and your online inventory are synchronized and easy to update. This way, if you sell out in store your website will automatically update to be unavailable for purchase until the inventory has been replenished.
I've been using the tap and chip reader at the market on the weekends for my other small business and it has been a game changer for our in-person market sales. I ring up the order on my phone and they simply tap their card, then we all do a happy dance (literally almost every time haha people seem excited about tapping to pay at a small outdoor market.)

Plans for Shopify Point of Sale
When you sign up for the Shopify Basic Plan at $29us/month you get access to Shopify POS Lite. This version of the POS is perfect for popups, markets and other quick sales to use with a tap and chip reader. If you are a brick and mortar store you will need the full setup for your retail store including the POS Pro plan which is an additional $89us/month.
